Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen reveals the true Picture of Motherhood
Everyone’s favourite designer, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen was at Salts Mill in Bradford yesterday to judge our Picture of Motherhood Competition. As I’m sure many of you will know, the competition was launched as part of our Mother’s Day campaign and was a huge success thanks to some great entries. The quality of photography made our job of whittling down the entries to a shortlist of 12 a tough one and it showed just how much amateur photography talent there is out there. Laurence was also hugely impressed with the photos in the final and after some deliberation eventually selected his winners.
In the end Laurence chose Alice Curtis as the under 18s winner for her picture “Mums make everything FUN” which depicts a mother and child running along a beach with their two dogs. Jenny Downing took the prize for the over 18s category with her picture showing a mother protecting her daughter from the midday sun outside the Taj Mahal in India. Laurence thought that this picture was particularly striking because it captured that fact that mother nature always shines through – the beauty of the Taj Mahal pales into insignificance when you see a mother caring for her daughter. Jenny Downing won £1,000 worth of photography equipment for her photo so she can now continue taking great photos and perfect her skills.
If you want get up close and personal with the photos that were entered in to the competition then you can pop down to Salts Mill and check them out for yourself – they will stay on display until March 15th.
